Great pizza for the price. Their fried mushrooms are a go-to side dish for me. Try adding meatballs to your pizza for something different.
Driving between Charlottesville and Bumpass, VA, we decided to pick up a pizza from Joe's Place to take home. While we had eaten at Joe's a few times before, we had never ordered pizza nor had we ever ordered take out. Based on our previous visits there, I note that the restaurant has a very healthy take-out business. We visited on a weekday around 4 pm. Ease of ordering. (2/5). The restaurant doesn't seem to have a website, and I couldn't find a recent menu online that included the pizza page, so we decided to just call and order a mushroom and olive pizza. I dialed, but the phone kept ringing and ringing and ringing. Someone finally answered after about 6-7 rings. She took my order, and said that the pizza would be ready in about 25 minutes. She called back after 5 minutes, informing me that they were out of olives, so I changed my order to a mushroom and sausage pizza. Ease of Pick-up. (5/5). We arrived early, and went into the restaurant to pay. Staff brought the pizza out to our car in just a few minutes. The pizza (4/5). The pizza was very good but, per my husband, "not exceptional." From my perspective, the crust was nicely browned in the oven, and had a reasonable amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings, and it wasn't too greasy. My husband tends to like a larger quantity and variety of toppings, as well as a thicker crust. Value. (5/5). The large pizza was $11-ish, and fed two of us for 2 meals.
Wife's family owned two Subways growing up, so her opinion on a steak and cheese subs is very important. She had one from here and said it was awesome. We also purchased a pizza and it was also top notch. It is a small place but the food is great.

Solid. Of course, I haven't branched out from the pizza, but reliably decent especially for the price. Just don't forget: CASH only (or check will work, too).
